fine. It looks fine. While I don’t love it, I think many people hold the Surpa to such a high standard after the Fast n Furious era, it’s a little unfair for this new one.
I’m just thankful in year 2019, we’re getting a new Toyota sports car during the SUV era. BMW bits or not, a new turbo 6 sports coupe is a great thing! That is all.

Not only that F&F reputation, but it’s also been teased for what, seven years now? I think for most people, it’ll be great, but for armchair experts and journalists, I think they’ll be let down.

It’s fine for 50k, it’s not for 80k

Agreed. The dragged out launch is arguably the worse part. They put this car on such a high pedestal, the actual production car needed to be something bonkers to live up to the hype.

I also don’t love (all of) it, but am really digging the rear 3/4 view and the double-bubble roof. Hope they sell a shitload.

Funny you say that I keep coming back to the 3/4 view and dig it too. The side looks more BMW than Toyota to me, but that’s not a bad thing.

I just think it’s sad that the company which created cars like the Supra, MR2, Celica, etc. now has to have other companies build their “fun” cars for them.

No doubt about that. It would’ve been nice to see Toyota put full effort to it.

Rear fender makes me think 987 Cayman.

That’s not nearly the worst predator face on a modern Toyota. I was fearing worse, but I’ll be really curious to see the BMW face. Something tells me BMW’s treatment of the body work will probably appeal to me more.

The Z4 is the BMW version if I am correct.

The 2jz fanboy forums are crapping all over it for the bmw engine. Mechanics are dreading the expensive one time use bmw fastener parts and how much itll cost customers to maintain that engine after warranty. I guess toyota didnt have a modern i6 it could use across multiple cars and bmw did. I think toyota saw a small sportscar market and finances said no to a whole new platform.
Given the engine, if its a lot cheaper than a z4, it may be worth it. If its close, just z4.

It's the only new japanese sports car, which means the weebs will love it regardless. I'm still hoping for a new (and good) nissan z car.

Nissan the type of brand to build a new Z, but stick the VC motor and CVT in it lol.

Maybe it’s just me, but I hold the Supra in high regard
in spite of
the F&F movie(s). I’m with you on the new one, it’s fine. Hopefully Toyota brings it to CAS and I’ll see it in person to really decide how I feel.

Well, it’s not like Toyota was going to develop an inline 6 for this, so they should be happy they’re are getting a great I6 from BMW. People make crazy power from the N54, just like the 2JZ.
I do hope it’s cheaper than the Z4, but I bet they’ll be similar in price.

Thats the curre nt japanese car meta, isn’t it? Lets build a car that can handle 1.5gs on the skidpad and put a chickenshit last gen engine in it, and a bunch of unnecessary computer bullshit

It looks like a 90s car, so take that for what it’s worth ..

Yup. Altho I’d say there are 90s cars that look better. Like the FD Rx-7. Same super round styling but thinner, leaner, and overall prettier

Agree. The FD is great looking and I think it’s because it looks thinner and leaner like you said. Now the 3000GT and other, not so much.

Starting price is $40k. V6 and options will probably be somewhere in the 50s, maybe 60

MKIII Supra is the best Supra:
Clean, simple, understated.
